Nasolabial fold filler
The lines between your nose and the side of your mouth are called nasolabial folds. There are several ways to soften their appearance depending on each patient’s anatomy. A bespoke plan will be created for you to meet your needs.
Nasolabial fold filler FAQs
-
The nasolabial folds are the lines that run between the side of your nose to the corners of your lips. As we get older, they become more prominent because pockets of fat from the cheek migrate downwards causing heaviness here.
-
Filler injected in the nasolabial folds can soften the nasolabial lines. Filler can also be placed deep at the side of the nose to elevate what is usually the most hollow area. This can also be combined with cheek filler to also lift this area. The technique used will depend on your anatomy.
-
A combination of techniques can be used for this area depending on your anatomy. Sometimes injections using a fine needle are used along the nasolabial fold. This can also be done using a cannula, which is a very fine needle with a blunt end that is inserted under the skin. This is not painful and is less likely to cause bruising because there is nothing sharp on the cannula.
-
The vast majority of treatments have almost no downtime and many patients return to their life immediately afterwards. However, with any injectable treatment there is the chance of bruising. This can take 7-10 days to heal and therefore it is important to schedule your treatment when you do not have any important engagements coming up.
-
A local anaesthetic cream will be applied to the area for 20-30 minutes prior to your treatment. Dr Vella often uses a cannula, which patients find very comfortable. The injections are limited to a few as possible and the needles used are very fine. If you are worried about this please discuss this with Dr Vella during your consultation.
