Cheek filler
Our cheeks lose volume as we age. Restoring the volume to the upper face changes the balance of the face to be more youthful.
Cheek filler FAQs
-
Cheek filler is versatile and can be used to enhance many different features. Most people lose volume in the front of the cheek (apple of the cheek) and restoring this volume can change the dynamic of the whole face and give the appearance of a lift. It can also contour the cheek to enhance the definition, or even support the tear trough for mid-face rejuvenation (see our page on this).
-
The effects of cheek filler should last 12-18 months. This is because the filler used is very strong because it needs to mimic your cheek bones in order to give the desired shape.
-
A variety of techniques can be used to do cheek fillers. Some involve using 3-4 gently injections in each cheek. A cannula can also be used. Dr Vella will numb the area using local anaesthetic cream before your treatment to minimise discomfort. The technique chosen will depend on your desired look and anatomy.
-
Ideally, cheek fillers should be performed during the day rather than the evening in order to let them settle. However, if placed correctly, the filler should not change based on your sleeping position so you can rest assured that your treatment will still be fabulous in the morning.
-
Cheek filler treatments take 20-30 minutes. Dr Vella will always take her time and be guided by how her patients feel during the procedure. A period of 30 minutes prior to the treatment is needed for anaesthetic cream to take effect.
